Rainforest Estate's abundant, tropical grounds are near the end of a no through road in a pristine rainforest valley with only a handful of large, out of sight, acreage properties nearby. It's away from suburbia, busy traffic and other unwanted intrusions, yet close to all the action that Tropical North Queensland offers.
Prefer to fly to and from the property? Our helicopter pad provides easy access to Cairns International Airport and all local attractions.
Another track leads higher, through lush, wet tropics rainforest to the upper areas of the grounds. There are large level pads with extensive mountain vistas, ideal for resting, reading and reflecting.
The land rises over 120 metres (400 feet) within the property boundaries and then another 100 metres (300 feet) through a World Heritage, wet tropics national park bordering the northern boundary.
For the more energetic and adventurous, there are nearby walking tracks to high rainforest creeks and spectacular waterfalls.
A permanent rainforest creek runs along the southern boundary for over 200 metres (650 feet). A walking track follows the creek to steps that provide easy entry into a cool swimming hole fed by the mountain stream. A large bamboo stand, under a rainforest canopy on a bend in the creek, is an ideal place to take a dip, read a book, get married, watch and listen to nature, do some creative thinking or just relax.
The year-round flowing mountain creek contains freshwater fish and crustaceans for keen fishermen wanting a little practice or entertainment. If you’re especially patient you may even spot a platypus looking for a meal.
There's also plenty of room for outdoor activities such as an early morning stroll or power walk, an afternoon game of boules, kicking a football around or even a little chipping or putting practice for the keen golfers.
Gardens range from mature tropical fruit trees and natives to newly planted exotics. Recent plantings include tens of thousands of native trees, shrubs and exotic plants to provide shade, attraction, aromas, wildlife habitat, colour and tropical snacks. Many species of birdlife and butterflies are abundant all year round.
The expansive home is surrounded by acres of sweeping lawns, tropical gardens and exotic fruit and rainforest trees that attract an abundance of tropical birds, butterflies and Australian native wildlife from dawn to dusk and after dark. Our mango (4 varieties) and citrus trees (oranges, mandarins, lemons, limes, lemonades, grapefruits) produce abundant fruit from December to May every year.
